-The Australian soprano will be conducted by Ivor Bolton at the Philharmonie concert hall in Essen.
Just as they did for Bellini´s I Puritani at the Savonlinna Festival (Finland) in 2017, the Madrid Teatro Real company will once again be counting on Jessica Pratt to take the leading role this month at the Alfried Krupp Saal concert hall (Germany), home of the Philharmonie Essen. The occasion is a Rossini opera gala on the 5th March with the Teatro Real opera house orchestra. Pratt will sing arias and duets (accompanied by the Spanish tenor Xabier Anduaga) from the operas Semiramide, Otello, Matilde di Shabran, L’Italiana in Algeri, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Le Conte Ory and Guillaume Tell. On the brief tour, the Real orchestra will be conducted by their musical director, Ivor Bolton, who is also the tenured conductor at the Essen auditorium. In their publicity of the concert, the Alfried Krupp Saal concert hall highlights the presence of the Australian soprano, “acclaimed from La Scala to the New York Met, she has been compared to Joan Sutherland and is regularly invited to perform at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro. She has 12 of the Italian composer´s operas in her repertoire.” Pratt will be performing in Essen after having garnered huge triumph with her Lucia di Lammermoor, which has been described as “exemplary,” both in Bilbao and in Oviedo. She bid farewell to the last season with the same opera at the Palau de Les Arts in Valencia, before returning, in 2019, to the Pesaro Festival for a revival of Rossini´s forgotten opera, Demetrio e Polibio. Jessica Pratt began the 2019-2020 season with a real tour de force, performing Olympia, Antonia, Giulietta and Stella in the Offenbach opera Les contes d’Hoffmann, a true milestone in her career. She has also sung I Puritani at the Marseilles opera, which she will be singing again in May at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, before singing La Traviata (Verdi) in Las Palmas in Gran Canaria and Lucrezia Borgia (Donizetti) at Opera Australia.
