-The acclaimed Spanish tenor will sing the Petite Messe Solennelle in Parma and a Christmas Concert in Tenerife before his debut of Verdi´s Requiem at the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands
After his triumph in the role of Edgardo in Lucia di Lammermoor at the Tenerife Opera last November, alongside the soprano Irina Lungu, the tenor Celso Albelo will continue his international activity with an engagement in Italy, this time to perform Rossini´s Petite Messe Solennelle in Parma. He will be conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti, alongside the Arturo Toscanini Orchestra and the Parma Teatro Regio Choir (14th and 15th December). Later he will take part in the Port of Santa Cruz in Tenerife Christmas Concert (25th December), a traditional event which will have its 25th anniversary this year. Albelo will be singing alongside Jorge de León also a tenor who, like Albelo, was born in the city of La Laguna in Tenerife. They will be accompanied by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST) and the Professional Conservatoire of Tenerife Children´s Choir, conducted by Víctor Pablo Pérez.
Celso Albelo will begin 2019 with a new challenge in his career – he will be performing one of the most important pieces by Giuseppe Verdi: the Requiem Mass, which will be included within the programme of the 35th International Music Festival of the Canary Islands. Performances will take place in Santa Cruz in Tenerife and Las Palmas in Grand Canary on the 19th and 20th January and will be conducted by Karel Mark Chichon who will be at the helm of the Grand Canary Philharmonic and the Estatal Kaunas Choir. Other soloists include the mezzo-soprano Marianna Pizzolato and the bass-baritone Bryn Terfel.
